#WeekendPlans: “One Light” w/Guest Lay Leader Pete Toot, 8/27/23

The title if this Sunday’s Sermon is “One Light,” which is borrowed from the Bahá’í saying, “One Light, Many Lamps.” We will be exploring a few of the major world religions, only six of the many that are still around and active in the world today. This will not be so much a class in comparative religion, but a glimpse of how there are truths held up by each of these, truths of each one that fit together in the part of the story of religion that we as Swedenborgians are a part of. Swedenborg was definitely a Christian, though not what anyone would have call mainstream. Mainstream is an adjective relegated to describing churches with large institutional followers. Hear about some parallels between some of the life-guiding ideas that resonate with our teachings, and with many others where vocabulary seems to be a discriminating factor that holds them apart from one another.

The Sunday Service will be held at 11 over Zoom. 10:30 am, Fellowship. A link will be sent out to church members and their invitees.

#WeekendPlans: 4/30/23 “The Return of the Light” w/Pete Toot

This Sunday, the theme of the message is “The Return of the Light.” Not by accident is that it is also the theme of May Day, or Beltane, the ancient celebration of the beginning of summer, still celebrated with bonfires, dancing, and rituals from pagan spirituality and Christian practices.

Join us via Zoom this Sunday, 4/30/23, 11 am, with lay-leader, Pete Toot, as we take a look at the wheel of the seasons of the year, and explore the inner meaning of seasons and their connection with spiritual growth. Join us as we dive into some of Emanuel Swedenborg‘s correspondences and what the Bible can tell us on these things that seem strangely connected. Link provided to church members and their guests.
