Anna grew up in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. She has lived around the country and traveled throughout the world. Anna is now based in Gambier, Ohio, with her husband, David. She enjoys nature, gardening, art, children, writing, community, singing, laughter, and a good cup of chai. She is passionate about spirituality, justice, food, the earth, beauty, compassion, and community, and is still driven by a calling to re-imagine church.

  • 11:00 AM: Worship with Visiting Minister, Rev. Renee Machiniak
  • 12:00-2:00 PM: Picnic* at the Lyceum Shelter, behind the church.

Food: The church is providing:

burgers, hot dogs, brats, metts, chicken, veggie burgers, gluten free buns, potato salad, baked beans, and dessert.

Drinks: There will be a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, hot and cold.

If you want to bring an adult beverage, that’s OK.

* You do not have to bring anything for the picnic – just yourselves!

“Spiritual Development for College Students” Free Lecture @UrbanaU April 12/13

Dr. Ray Silverman, Associate Professor of Religion and English at Bryn Athyn College, will discuss his new book “Spiritual Development for College Students” at two free events on Urbana University‘s campus next week.

International lecturer, and editor and author of numerous books and scholarly articles on spiritual principles and application, Dr. Silverman will host a series of events in support of his newest publication “Spiritual Development for College Students.”

Church Cancelled Today

Due to the forecast of snow accumulation today, we will be cancelling our planned service at 11:00 am.

Glendale will hold their service next week, and we will resume on the 18th of February.

We will be having our Swedenborg and Life (Off the Left Eye) spirituality meeting Tomorrow evening, February 5, 2018, at 7 pm.  Please RSVP to newchurchofmontgomery@gmail.com if you can come. The topic is Happiness, and Clark will lead the discussion.

Our regular 9:30 am book study will NOT be meeting until the 1st or 2nd Sunday in March. To be Announced.

Additionally, My Furry Valentine is upcoming–Feb 10/11. Please go to https://www.myfurryvalentine.com/volunteers/ if you would like to sign up to volunteer for this pet adoption event. There is an orientation prior to the event on the 8th.

  • Teach your kids to share by exchanging and donating their toys to The Swap!
  • Bring only gently used or new toys to exchange.
  • Bring one extra toy for donation to Bethany House Women & Children’s Shelter (can be new or gently used, also).
  • A Bake Sale will be held; all profits and donations will benefit Bethany House.

This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, a chance to help a child get a toy they otherwise couldn’t afford, a time for kids to find a new and interesting toy, and a nice activity in the village of Glendale!

YouTube host, Curtis Childs, and any invited guests discuss life and death inquiries by examining the uplifting perspectives brought to us through the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th century scientist, theologian, and mystic.
Food, wine and non-alcoholic beverages and stimulating discussion provided!

Plan for a great weekend!

We invite you to our last New Church of Montgomery service for the year; this coming Sunday, December 18 at 10:30 AM.

  • We begin with a short children’s concert, where three of our Sunday-Schoolers will present musical selections on the piano or violin.
  • We conclude with our Fourth Sunday of Advent, on the theme, “Love,” given by our local, guest minister, Rev. Sherrie Connelly.
  • This will be our last 10:30 AM service. Starting January 1, 2017, church service will begin a half hour later at 11 AM, preceded by Swedenborgian study group, and hospitality fellowship.

On December 24th, Rev. Clark Echols and The Glendale New Church will be holding their Christmas Eve Family service.  All are welcome to attend. This service begins at 5:00 PM.
