Tuesday. A good day to do a good deed.

Hello Church Friends,

I am passing along information about my teacher team, grades 7-9, for items we could use throughout the school year.

Almost 99% of our students live in poverty and as a school (Lockland) we don’t have a lot of money for additional resources and supplies.

These items are supplies for the classroom as well as items that can be used for our PBISrewards. (positive-behavior intervention system). Throughout the school year we will be updating the last so feel free to check back in and support.

Log in through your Amazon Smile account to benefit NCOM, as well. If using the amazon app on your phone, make sure smile is turned on to donate. Go to the menu bar (three horizontal lines) >Gifting, Registry & Charity>AmazonSmile> Mobile App Generating Donations ON

Feel free to share the Shannon Fischer wishlist on facebook and with others around you. If you are not sure what to get, an amazon gift card is also helpful. Thank you so much for the support. It is greatly appreciated and needed

Sponsor an Artist today!

Please share your treasure with kids participating in the Thunderhawk Tile Project fundraiser at Hopewell Junior School. This is a chance for kids to hang out, be creative and leave their artistic legacy at their school! Students will paint a ceiling tile that will be hung in their cafeteria to be enjoyed for years to come.

Thank you for financially supporting kids who might otherwise be unable to attend.

If you feel called to donate, you may do so at this link: hjs-ptso.square.site by Sept 4, 2020.

#EndangeredSpeciesDay Thou Shalt Not Kill…Clover!

Clover

Running Buffalo Clover, Photo by USFWS; Sarena Selbo

According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Running Buffalo Clover is an endangered species in Hamilton, County, Ohio.

It’s soft on our feet, great for high traffic areas and fixes nitrogen in the soil.

Do you use herbicides? Instead, let’s help our bees, our lawns, and remember our commandments!

The nearest dream recedes unrealized.
The heaven we chase,
Like the June bee
Before the schoolboy,
Invites the race,
Stoops to an easy clover,
Dips–evades–teases–deploys–
Then to the royal clouds
Lifts his light pinnace,
Heedless of the boy
Staring, bewildered, at the mocking sky.

Homesick for steadfast honey,–
Ah! the bee flies not
Which brews that rare variety.

#WednesdayWisdom Urbana Artists

AliceArcherSewallJames.jpgIn the late 1800’s, artist Alice Archer Sewall James or “Archie,” as she was known, was encouraged by her family, including her father, a Swedenborgian minister, to pursue art in all forms, be an educated woman and travel around Europe.  In her later years, she “reemerged as an artist and teacher,” taught sculptor John Cavanaugh in Urbana, OH, and also “inspir(ed) a new generation of painters at Urbana University.” ~http://www.swedenborg.com/product/stay-by-me-roses/
