Alternative Harvest Feast

NEW CHURCH OF MONTGOMERY INVITES YOU TO OUR ALTERNATIVE HARVEST FEAST

Since we are not able to have our Harvest Feast potluck this year, we are inviting you to choose what you would have brought to our in-person celebration and, instead, send a check to the church for its value. The church will match the donations and the money will be donated to the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank.

The Food Bank hopes to distribute over 14,000 Holiday Meal Boxes during the holiday seasons this year. They can serve 3 meals for $1.00, so even if you are thinking a can of cranberry sauce, your donation will be useful

Here is our usual sign-up sheet – no need to let us know what you’re “bringing”. Duplicates are fine! We usually have around 25-30 people for our meal.

  • Turkey
  • Gravy
  • Stuffing
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Other Side Dish
  • Salad
  • Rolls
  • Pie
  • Juice
  • Soft Drink

Send check made out to:

“Books for Bethany House” Yields Books for Kids

Our latest outreach project, Books for Bethany House yielded a donation of 45 books to Bethany House Services, a family shelter in Cincinnati, OH. Through book purchases and monetary donations, Blue Manatee Literacy Project and Bookstore will supply books that will be given to children experiencing homelessness. Their mission to

(partner) with local schools, educators, volunteers and staff, (donate) books help build classroom and home libraries, with books in varying reading levels and written by own-voices authors and

to spread the love of reading to all children across Cincinnati—in the hopes that we will watch them grow and flourish, and continue to spread that love of reading throughout their life.

This project took the place of this year’s annual Toy Swap which was not held due to Covid-19.

Bethany House
Bethany House Services empowers homeless and at-risk families with the solutions to achieve housing stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Their vision is to live in a community where all families have a place to call home and no one spends a night without shelter. Currently, Bethany House services 160-170 people every night, 75% of those being children. Families come to Bethany House from many different paths. No matter the twists and turns life has thrown at them, they come to Bethany House seeking the same thing, a place to find rest and restoration. That’s what we provide: care and comfort, community and support, encouragement and inspiration, each leading them one step closer to home.

#ThursdayThoughts: #Survival, #Sanity, #Attention #Delight

From “The Artist’s Way,” by Julia Cameron

“Survival lies in sanity, and sanity lies in paying attention…The quality of life, is in proportion, always, to the capacity for delight.” Julia Cameron

As we weather these days ahead, days of uncertainty, let us pay attention and enjoy the moments that uplift us. Sharing our gifts of noticing, and nurturing. Listen to the birds beginning their morning discourse before the sun has even created the horizon. Listen to the sounds of children tumbling out of bed. Listen to the beat of your own heart. Here for a reason.

Delight in the gifts we are given.
